7 SHEET MASK HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW

7 SHEET MASK HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW

If there’s one skincare product we can’t live without, it has to be sheet masks. Although we might be biased, we love that sheet masks hydrate, treat and provide our skin with the essential nutrients it needs to be healthy and glowing in just 20 minutes.

Whether you’re new to sheet masks or a super fan, we want to help you achieve the best results. So, before you apply your next sheet mask, read on and discover how you can get the most out of this skincare essential.

Prep your skin

Make sure you’re applying a sheet mask to clean skin so washing your face thoroughly with a gentle cleaner is an essential prep step. This also means you won’t trap any dirt or impurities or force them deeper into the skin. Applying a toner after cleansing will also help to open your pores and prepare your skin to deeply absorb the active ingredients from the mask which will provide better instant and long-lasting results.

Snip for the perfect fit

The way you apply a sheet mask greatly determines the results you will achieve. When applying, we advise starting at your forehead and working your way down your face, smoothing out the air bubbles as you go to ensure the mask is flat to your skin in all areas. This will allow your skin to absorb the maximum amount of essence from the mask. Although we have designed our sheet masks to fit all face shapes, face sizes vary, so don’t be afraid to tuck, fold or snip your mask in the areas where it overhangs so it fits your face snugly. If you have a beard, you can simply cut the mask in half and apply the bottom section to your neck. Your mask, your rules!

Chill before use

If you live in a hot climate or have irritated or inflamed skin, try refrigerating your sheet mask before applying for a cooling and de-puffing effect. A chilled sheet mask will help to instantly soothe and calm inflammation and it will also encourage skin cells to release any trapped heat, leaving you with a calm, supple and moisturised complexion. When skin gets overheated after a workout or after sun exposure it can lose moisture, produce more sebum and become out of balance so cooling it down with a chilled sheet mask is a great way to regain its balance.

Utilise the extra essence

Don’t be hasty to throw away your sheet mask packaging. After you’ve applied a sheet mask, the leftover serum in the packaging can be put to good use. We recommend applying the extra essence to boost the hydration and suppleness of areas where your skin is more delicate such as your neck, decolletage and hands.

Be Consistent

No matter what your current skin concern is, most complexions are lacking in hydration due to our lifestyles and the climate and environments we live in. That’s why all three of our sheet masks feature active ingredients that treat and also deeply hydrate the skin. We can’t say it enough, but the best way to see results from sheet masks and achieve a hydrated complexion is to be consistent. A great way to make sheet masks a regular habit is to add them to your self-care routine. Not only will showing yourself some self-love boost your mood and well-being, but your skin will regularly receive the hydration and nutrients it needs to be healthy and glowing.

Use when bathing

If you have excessively dry skin, using a sheet mask in the bath or shower can help you achieve better results. The steam from the hot water can replicate a steaming facial and help to open pores allowing for the mask’s serum to penetrate deeper into the skin. GLIST sheet masks feature a semi gel cellulous sheet which allows for skin-tight adhesion, so you don’t need to worry about it slipping down your face.

Don't wash it off

It’s important to refrain from washing your face after using a sheet mask because you’re literally washing away the goodness you’ve just treated your skin to. After removing the mask, simply pat the extra serum into your face and neck. Our sheet masks encourage the maximum amount of serum to be absorbed into your skin so you won’t be left with a sticky feeling that other masks can leave you with.
